Forget Luxury Brands—Disney’s Smartest Cultural Bet Is G-Dragon

In a move that further cements the cultural and commercial influence of K-pop on the global luxury landscape, Disney Korea has unveiled an unprecedented partnership with G-Dragon’s avant-garde label, PEACEMINUSONE. Announced on June 22, the collaboration reimagines the beloved universe of Toy Story through the creative lens of one of Asia’s most influential style icons.

The project represents Disney’s first-ever collaboration with a K-pop artist—an initiative that extends far beyond conventional merchandise licensing. Rather than simply co-branding products, Disney and PEACEMINUSONE jointly conceived an immersive retail and storytelling experience, blending nostalgia, fashion, and contemporary cultural relevance into a single collectible universe.

Titled “THE FIRST FAN,” the collection draws inspiration from a deeply personal narrative: the idea that toys were G-Dragon’s earliest companions and supporters long before global fame. The concept transforms childhood nostalgia into a sophisticated exploration of creativity, ambition, and self-expression—themes that have long defined both the artist’s career and his fashion imprint.

At the heart of the collection is a distinctive visual dialogue between Disney’s iconic Toy Story characters and PEACEMINUSONE’s instantly recognizable daisy motif. Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie are reinterpreted through G-Dragon’s playful yet subversive aesthetic, resulting in designs that appeal as much to contemporary collectors as they do to longtime Disney enthusiasts.

The release spans approximately 70 pieces, ranging from limited-edition figures and collectible plush toys to fashion-forward apparel and lifestyle accessories. Adding a technology component to the offering, CASETiFY has joined the partnership with an exclusive range of premium mobile accessories, including collectible phone cases and AirPods cases designed to complement the broader collection.

Positioned as a pan-Asian cultural launch, the collection will debut across 10 major cities, including Seoul, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Taipei, and Shanghai—underscoring the growing convergence of entertainment franchises, luxury-adjacent fashion, and collector culture throughout the region.

The South Korean debut begins July 1 with a dedicated pop-up experience in Seoul’s trendsetting Seongsu district. Conceived as more than a retail destination, the space invites visitors into a meticulously designed environment inspired by the collection’s narrative. The first floor recreates a dreamlike childhood bedroom, evoking the imaginative world that inspired “THE FIRST FAN,” while the second floor serves as a curated retail gallery showcasing the full collection.

For collectors, fashion enthusiasts, and followers of G-Dragon’s enduring cultural influence, the collaboration offers a rare intersection of global entertainment heritage and contemporary creative identity—one that is poised to become one of the most talked-about collectible releases of the year.
